New energy vehicles refer to vehicles that use unconventional automotive fuels as power sources (or use conventional automotive fuels with new types of onboard power devices), integrating advanced technologies in vehicle power control and drive aspects, resulting in vehicles with advanced technical principles, new technologies, and new structures. New energy vehicles include pure electric vehicles, range-extended electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, fuel cell electric vehicles, and hydrogen engine vehicles.

In November 2020, the General Office of the State Council issued the "New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Plan (2021-2035)", requiring the in-depth implementation of the national strategy for the development of new energy vehicles, promoting the high-quality and sustainable development of China's new energy vehicle industry, and accelerating the construction of a strong automotive nation.
In 2021, the annual production of new energy vehicles reached 3.677 million units, an increase of 152.5% compared to the previous year, ending three consecutive years of negative growth; the latest statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show that in 2022, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China reached 7.058 million and 6.887 million units, respectively, with year-on-year growth of 96.9% and 93.4%, maintaining the global first position for eight consecutive years.

On February 28, 2023, the National Bureau of Statistics released the "Statistical Bulletin of National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China 2022", showing that the total production of new energy vehicles in 2022 was 7.003 million units, an increase of 90.5% compared to the previous year. As of July 3, 2023, China's new energy vehicle production reached 20 million units. In the first half of 2023, new energy vehicles totaled 3.611 million units, an increase of 35.0%. As of the end of September 2023, there were 18.21 million new energy vehicles.
In March 2024, the production and sales of automobiles reached 2.687 million and 2.694 million units, respectively, with year-on-year growth of 4% and 9.9%. Among them, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 863,000 and 883,000 units, respectively, with year-on-year growth of 28.1% and 35.3%.

Basic knowledge of electric vehicle drive systems

Electric drive, also known as electric drive axle powertrain, is essentially a combination of motor and gears. Its main function is to convert high-voltage electrical energy into driving force, thereby driving the wheels to enable the vehicle to move.

What are the differences between new energy vehicles and traditional gasoline cars?

With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, new energy vehicles are gradually occupying a place in the market. Compared with traditional fuel vehicles, new energy vehicles show significant differences in multiple aspects.
